The Georgian Business Association and DANSK Industri, within the framework of a joint project, hosted a two day conference on the topic “Alternative resolution of individual labor disputes - international and Georgian perspective”, at which one of the speakers was the partner of our company, Otar Machaidze.
The conference aimed, with the participation of social partners, practicing lawyers, law firms, mediators, arbitrators, attorneys, academic circles, representatives of business associations, and other interested persons, to start a systemic dialogue on the development of alternative mechanisms for the consideration of individual labor disputes, to analyze the mechanisms, to bring closer the positions of social partners, and to develop a trial or pilot model.
Within the framework of the two day conference, a presentation was held of the study prepared by the labor law expert Zakaria Shvelidze, “Alternative resolution of an individual labor dispute: a guide for the development of the system”, and a discussion took place in a wide audience, which made it possible both to properly comprehend international practice and, from the local perspective, to identify challenges and to plan appropriate steps to overcome them.
During the conference, the experts of Dansk Industri and the Danish Confederation of Trade Unions, Jorn Kempell and Philip Nordentoft, shared with the audience experience about the “Danish model” of labor dispute resolution and international perspectives.
“The Georgian Business Association actively continues cooperation with Danish partners, the goal of our joint project is the development of the labor market in the process of rapprochement with the European Union and its better adaptation to economic needs. Today’s conference was dedicated to searching for ways of alternative resolution of individual labor disputes, which is important for avoiding lengthy and costly court disputes and for better understanding employment policy in companies.
Within the framework of this project this is not our first joint event and we think that BAG’s cooperation with Danish partners already has tangible benefit both for the business sector and for our country’s economy”, stated the Executive Director of the Georgian Business Association, Levan Vepkhvadze.
We remind you that the conference is held within the framework of the joint project of the Georgian Business Association and Dansk Industri, “Development of Georgia’s labor market: support of social dialogue, skills, and harmonization with the European Union”.
